What Gives You Peace Of Mind?

{This is a compensated review from BlogHer and AT&T FamilyMap}

Peace of mind to me would be never letting my children leave the house......and of course then I woke up!

Peace of mind to me is knowing where my children are and who they're with. Now that I have a teenager and he has been out and about more often than not, knowing where he is is HUGE for me. At the end of the school year we decided to surprise Alex with a cell phone. He has been very responsible with the phone and is very appreciative to have it (we originally told him he could not have one until high school, 1 year away).

This past week AT&T and BlogHer asked me the question, what gives you peace of mind? They are allowing our family to use a new product for 30 days, The FamilyMap. It is basically a built in GPS, for us worry wart parents, to ALWAYS know where our children are with their phones. And it is TOTALLY cool!

Set up was super easy and I have been loving every minute of it.

Oh and did I mention YOU can also share in the love of this product FOR FREE for 30 days, click here to get all the info and your free 30 days.

I registered mine and Alex's phone and I watched on the computer where my son and his phone were all afternoon. I also saved the web address to my cell and now can know where he is no matter where I am. You can also set up a Schedule Check to automatically get location information sent to you via text message or email. You can even be notified when your child arrives home from school each day.

Not only has this product let me not worry when my son and his friends go out to the lake by our house, it is also nice when he conveniently forgets to call me when he gets to where he is suppose to be.

I was trying to think who would benefit from this product, but really EVERYONE would. If your just starting off like me, with your children going to the movies or walking to a friends house, all the way to the parents who have their children leaving for college. You always know where they are. Sometimes you don't need to talk to them, you just want to know where they are. And now you can!!

AT&T and BlogHer also are giving you a chance to win a $100.00 dollar Visa gift card.

To enter, leave me a comment below and tell me what gives YOU peace of mind - or you may leave a link to your post on your own blog in the comments below. The contest will begin at 8/27/2009 and will end 9/20/2009. Make sure that the e-mail address you leave is correct.

This is a pretty cool feature! I would love this if Tink were old enough to actually go out by herself. My peace of mind comes from the fact that she is currently not old enough to leave the porch without parental supervision. I wonder if Hubbs would appreciate me putting this on his phone? Probably not a good idea.

What gives me peace of mind, I would have to say that knowing where my sons are(ages 20 and 16) and that they are safe. gives me peace of mind.

I am married to a nationwide truck driver who consistently works transporting OVERSIZE equipment .
Peace of mind for me is knowing when he's ok and doing well. We are both senior citizens and he's going to work a few more years.I see him about every 8 weeks.
Just a little something more like the GPS system would help me have peace in my heart and would be terrific and much appreciated! Thankyou for the opportunity !

I am the worrying kind. I have three beautiful children that I brought into this world and I want to keep them here, preferably next to me. Not quite realistic, so I love the idea that there is another way to keep up with them.

What don’t we worry about as parents? It worries me the weather is bad and my teenage daughter is driving to school in the morning. It actually worries my when she is driving in general to school :) This service would help give any parent more of peace of mind….not to mircromanage our kids…just to help us from not going crazy :)

I have four children and I think that knowing where they are and who they're with gives me piece of mind. I always insist on knowing all plans and then taking the time to confirm with other parents when my children coordinated an outing. Despite the eye rolls and groans, I always made sure I was "in the know" whenever they did something with their friends.
I'd rather be the overbearing, nosy mom than be sorry later on because I wasn't paying attention.

I learned a hard lesson two years ago when we needed to leave town on an emergency and it took me two hours to locate my kids--I knew they were each with friends, but not where each family had gone for dinner. Both immediately got cellphones. A Family Map would be better!

Knowing where my family is and who they are with keeps me sane. When I know where they are and who they are with then I don't have to worry about them being in an unsafe situation or with people they should not be with.

I have teenagers too and yeah, the only time my mind is totally at peace is when I have them in sight.

I agree! Having peace of mind is when my children are all at the table with me - even if they are fighting :)

got a teener and a tweener to track. they don't like to anser the phone when we call so this little gem will make that less of an issue!

I have two children, 13 and 17. both have phones. We are actually AT&T customers and love our Family Plan. Great value. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can reach them at almost anytime (unless they are in class, and they know their cell phone better be off!)

Peace of mind would come knowing where my family is at certain times of the day. If someone is late coming home, I can figure out where they are.

Knowing my family is taken care of to the best of my ability gives me peace of mind... paying the bills on time, having insurance and a little bit of money. Nothing extravagant... just making sure we're all O.K.!

As a dad of quadruplet boys, I am sure that this function will eventually be amazingly helpful. If this was accurate to the inch, I would consider purchasing the plan, implanting the phones in their diapers, and tracking them around my house with my phone. They are hard to keep up with now, I cannot imagine some day when they are off at school!

What gives me Peace of Mind?
God, my mom listening heart, my husband's love, and your blog (blatant suck up).

This is a GREAT idea for a product and I am seriously looking into it. After D had his heart trouble this summer, and he still wants to bike, I want to be able to track him. Fantastic idea.

How did I not know that you have a review site?!?!?! I'm clueless.

Anyway, very cool product. I definitely see a need for it in my future.

What gives me peace of mind? The pediatrician on speed dial, the fact that I love my boys' preschool, my husband's job security, the earthquake preparedness kit in the back of my car, the fact that my parents are only a phone call away and the thought that as a family we can weather anything together.

What gives me peace of mind is knowledge. That is, knowledge of what he's doing or where he is. With FamilyMap, I can relatively pinpoint his location, but I won't know what he's doing; I can give it a guess though and that's good enough. Hmm, looks like he's at the mall. Okay.

Talking things through with my husband always helps give me peace of mind. Sometimes I ask him the most ridiculous questions (along the lines of, "Will this happen? Will that happen?") just to hear him tell me that I'm being ridiculous! A good laugh diffuses the worry.

I know I'm not in control, but knowledge at least gives you a head start or a shortcut to the heart of the problem or situation you are dealing with. In the case of trying to locate a family member, at least some knowledge means you don't have to start at the bottom to claw through every possible scenario. It saves valuable time and possibly some stress.

My real piece of mind comes from knowing that my 3 precious children are in the Lord's hands. He has a perfect plan for each of their lives and ultimately God is in control! I am so thankful for the time he has given them to me and I hope and pray I raise them in a way that will honor HIM!

Mel said...

My piece of mind comes from the fact that my kids aren't old enough for me to worry about this yet. I am not sure about this feature though. Maybe I will think differently when the kids are older but I am not sure I am going to want to know where they are at all times.

Peace of mind would be knowing that Gracie didn't get on the bus after school when she was supposed to stay for ASP. This is one of my biggest worries. I suppose this device would help eliminate that worry. But of course I'd have to give my 6 year old a cell phone. HA!
